1. What are some of the issues that weigh in favor of and against crashing the project?
One risk that can happen is that the company can face penalties because of the project not being completed in the time that was given. Which each week the project is behind the company will incur penalties.
Another downfall is that this is Joe first project that has been assigned to him. If he does not follow through as plan and complete the project in a timely manner he will also be frowned upon from many as not being able to follow through with his plans and contract deadlines as laid out in the begging of the project. This is something he does not want because it can be damaging to his career.
One favor of crashing the project is that it can be completed in the time that was given, however it will cost the company more to crash the project, rather than completing the project. Granted Joe has the additional funds to try and complete the project in a timely manner, but there is no guarantee that the project will still be completed.
2. Suppose you were the site supervisor for this project. How would you advise Joe to proceed? Before deciding whether or not to crash the project, what questions should you consider and how should you evaluate your options.
Questions that I would want to know before the crash of the project would-be how much is the company going to lose in the process, what will be the total downfall of the company, will there be a second chance to make up the lost work that was not done.
