In Remember the Titans Coach Boone said, “I don't scratch my head unless it itches and I don't dance unless I hear some music. I will not be intimidated. That's just the way it is.” He said this to let it be known no matter what, you don’t let others intimidate you into doing something against your wishes. Black is just a color and Coach Boone made sure that is all it stayed. He stated color does not define who you are and what you believe in. There are many comparisons between The Ernest Green Story and Remember the Titans. Both these stories were inspirational and moving in their own ways also. Each story had its own way of delivering its messages into others hearts. Thanks to Brown v. Board of Education in 1954 it was legal to integrate students in schools. Central High didn’t approve of this process but in the outcome it happened.
Ernest Green was the only senior among the nine black students who integrated Arkansas' Little Rock High School in 1957. Faced with pressure from both his mockers and his peers, Ernest manages to survive a harrowing year with his courage and intellect intact. Ernest never let any of the Caucasian students distract him from what he really wanted, which was to graduate. Several of the Little Rock Nine got kicked out of Central high or just simply left because of the torture being brought to them. In the end Ernest realized that the white kids were just jealous. The whites took advantage of what they had at Central. When the Little Rock Nine came they were only worried about education and trying to get through high school. None of the white kids even thought about how good they had it. This riveting story on how even grown-ups treated defenseless teenagers showed that back then the whites only cared about themselves and didn’t worry about hurting children in the process.
