Consumer behavior happens all the time but adding in consumer behavior to marketing is different. Below is a paper on define consumer behavior, and how it co-assist with the subject of marketing. The paper is going to use computer for the type of purchase and how each of the 4Ps go with it, following 4Ps, product, price, promotion and place, to the purchasing decision.
Define consumer behavior
Consumer behavior covers so much ground, individuals or groups go and purchase services or products at a fast pace and desire and satisfy his or her needs. Consumers rang from a 6 year old child pulling on moms arm about buying a certain type of toy or anything and even goes for executives thinking about buying a multimillion dollar IT system.
Consumer behavior and marketing go together because in recent years companies would use marketing to place a good in the market and have consumers buy them. With this said, times has changed, more companies in the marketing area are watching closer to consumer behavior because more are searching on services and products online (Hernandez, Dec 20, 2010). The Hernandez (Dec 20, 2010), “consumers surveyed in the U.S., Brazil, Germany, Japan, and Sweden, United Kingdom, 75 percent of them rely heavily on media websites to research products and services” companies can receive a clue to their next move.
A consumer from 20 years ago would walk into a store to buy a Dell or Compaq computer because of watching commercials on televisions or magazines. In those days companies had to look at the number of units sold to think if their marketing strategy is working. Today, Wal-Mart shows the world on all items is the lowest price and the marketing strategy works. However, in today’s world, companies have to watch us the consumer in the way of buying on online or in a store, so each companies knows the accurate amount of spending in media and online.
