Contributions of Islamic Civilizations

DBQ 7: Islamic Civilization
Islamic civilization has contributed a lot to the world. In my essay I will talk about how Islamic civilization has contributed to the world. Also I will talk about how they were able to make such great contributions.
First the Muslims made medical reference books. This was a great contribution to the world because it made it possible for doctors in Europe to have a reference book for surgery. Al-Razi’s work , the Method, was used for five hundred years it included original drawings of two hundred medical tools. Ibn Sina’s the Canon of medicine was five volumes and it guided doctors for six centuries. So these books were very important to Europe and Asia.
Second I think that the astrolabe and armillary sphere were instruments that helped make more accurate maps to make traveling easier to find better routes. Also these instruments made more accurate calendars. They had made advancements in trigonometry and astronomy. Making more accurate maps made it so they could explore more of the world and map it more accurately. Mapping it more accurately made it easier for the next explorer to go though the same area to explore areas beyond it.

Finally Muslims artists used calligraphy to decorate buildings. Calligraphy was used to reflect the glory of Allah. This style of art made buildings more beautiful and a better place to live for the people in the city. Also it adds culture to the city which makes it a more appealing place to live. This style of art also shows the artists dedication to his religion.
These are just three of the great things that Islamic civilization has contributed to the world. All of these make the world a more beautiful place and the people who live in it smarter.
