In today’s society it is almost impossible to leave the home and not encounter someone of another culture. In America today, there are many different races, religions, just people in general. At first glance it was one’s opinion, if people came to America; they should be required to learn American cultures. When you walk into any classroom today, the diversity is clear. All students should be educated versus the ones who want to learn about multicultural living. After carefully reconsidering the issue, there is a change of heart. One does feel as it should be required of high school students learn multiple cultures in order to graduate.
Learning institutions should teach that knowledge of other cultures can help then socially. It would help them to get over some of the discrimination they have toward some of the other cultures. It will help to contribute less fear and understanding.
In the matter of fear, it may best to understand the cultures of others. When there isn’t a good understanding of why some people do or feel a certain way, people tend to be fearful of others. The Muslim culture for instance, is one of the most feared religions at this time. Everyone who doesn’t know any thing about them, wonders why they act the way they do. They don’t understand that it may be the way they were taught to live. These people are willing to die for what they believe in. There aren’t many cultures in the world that are willing to do that. They also pray differently from most American religions. They are faithful to what they believe in. American high school student should definitely learn this culture along with Hispanic cultures.
