The 2008 democratic debate in the University of Texas Austin really determined the formation of my political philosophy. This debate held between Clinton and Obama made me realize I am a democrat since I agree with almost all of what they say. I do lean more on the side of Obama in this debate, even though Senator Clinton did speak for about 65% of the time.
Dealing with the economy, Senator Obama said he wants to stop the tax breaks on the big businesses and on the rich and focus them on the middle class and the poor. Both Clinton and Obama state the same ideas dealing with the economy and stopping tax loopholes and focusing on rebuilding the middle class more so we do not fall into recession.
The big issue on immigration was brought up and the issue on building the fence. Senator Obama states that he wants to crack down on employers who are employing undocumented workers. He also wants to create a relation with Mexico and try to increase job opportunities in Mexico so less illegal immigrants would want to come to the United States. Senator Clinton says that we should put more of a technology based border control instead of a fence; she says it would prevent interference with families between the two nations.
Some of the greatest Presidents of this nation were democratic, Andrew Jackson, whose main attributions were the repayment of the total Federal Debt, the opposition to the Second Bank of the United States, the nullification crisis that arose out of the disagreements over tariffs, and the proposal of the Indian Removal Act. FDR, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, with his proposal of the New Deal and getting America out of the Great Depression. I think that people should be more exposed into politics. I think there should be change, I consider myself as a liberal. I believe in pure democracy to where the people have the right to choose what they want based on how they feel, because everybody in this society has a different opinion and they all need to be...
