It was taken place when women had to take over for the men that were sent out to war. Women started working in factories and also playing in sports for the time being. In the story women where assumed to throw like girls because of the ways they threw the ball their form wasn’t well coached and that’s where throwing like a girl came from. It was considered as an insult and many of feminist workers saw that and wanted to change the saying on it. There should be no difference in men and females just because the way they are structured or hinged differently. In this story men use to use the saying “he throws like a girl” is meant to belittle those who were not taught to throw correctly. It’s difficult for females to be taught correctly is because while growing up females are taught by their mothers how to cook clean and to work simple not to play in bigger sports or bigger jobs. Boys at a young age have their fathers to teach them to be in sports and to train and set them up for higher paying jobs because they are specifically taught to play hard and do things correctly. “throwing like a girl “ is considered the wrong way to do things and is very offensive in many ways because stated by Linda Wells “ I know many woman who can throw a lot harder and better than the normal male” In her own opinion she continues on (p402) that it does not count on gender on how they throw”
Men start at a young age on how to do certain things and that’s where time and practice comes in training the mind on how to turn your body and moving your arms correctly to throw a ball or even hit harder. Males in private time train to make sure they don’t get seen “throwing like a girl” like Goodman says he will never repeat those words because it’s very difficult to learn how to throw correctly so they are not ridiculed for...
