Threat of Declining Biodiversity
Biodiversity is a complicated thing, because it can have effects on all things if you change one thing it will affect another thing and keep going that way. So you must consider every aspect and take the good with the bad so to speak. Here are the four categories that biodiversity breaks down to.
The production of food and water, this is a big deal now days because in some places water is very scarce and droughts are lasting longer and longer. For example in Texas, Texas goes long periods of time without rain central Texas can go moths without any significant rainfall and that in itself can hurt the biodiversity. This effects the replenishing of our water source the aquifer doesn’t fill itself we rely on rain to refill the aquifer so we don’t have to go on water restrictions. This comes into our food source, ranchers need water to irrigate crops and fields, these crops and fields feed our food. Our food being the cattle that we slaughter, these cows graze of the grass and other fields that ranchers grow. Hence the negative, no water we can’t grow food to feed our renewable resource which is the cow. Which happens to be one of our main sources of food.
Control of climate and disease, this is a tough one because it’s hard to say how we can control the climate and there are scientist that are trying to develop a way to do this and I don’t think anything significant has been produced yet. Now as for controlling disease that is something we can somewhat control, we have to be cleaner and make sure that everyone is vaccinated and has regular checkups to ensure that there is no wife spread sickness anywhere.
Crop pollination and farming I guess you can put into the same category, our famers and ranches need a good supply of water and fertilizers to make sure that all crops and other sources that are grown have...
