It is important to be physically fit, because if you aren’t doing any activity at all, you are at risk for lots of diseases. Obesity, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol are just a few. These diseases are life threatening, and will be a big problem if they aren’t treated. I think that my overall fitness level is pretty good. I exercise regularly, but I could exercise more.
There are five health-related fitness components. They are flexibility, muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardiorespiratory endurance, and body composition. Flexibility is the ability to move a body part through a full range of motion. The amount of force a muscle can exert is muscular strength.
The ability of the muscles to do difficult physical tasks over a period of time without causing fatigue is muscular endurance. Cardiorespiratory endurance is the ability of the heart, lungs, and blood vessels to send fuel and oxygen to the body’s tissues during long periods of vigorous activity. Body composition is the ratio of body fat to lean body tissue, including muscle, bone, water, and connective tissue such as ligament, cartilage, and tendons.
My ratings for the flexibility sit and reach and the trunk lift were both rated in the “high” category. For muscular endurance, everything was once again rated in the “high” category. My cardiorespiratory endurance was rated in the “marginal” category. For body composition, my 17.2 was rated in the “high” category.
My weaknesses I have for flexibility, is that I need to stretch more often. My weakness I have for muscular strength and muscular endurance is that I don’t have access to weights. For my cardiorespiratory endurance, I could drink more water, and exercise more often. For my body composition, my weakness is that I don’t know how to build up a healthy body composition.
