GEN Y “The Millennial”
Generation Y or the Millennial is for years 1980s-2000s. Gen Y is the generation many people grew up in including myself. Many people look at this generation and go “I remember back then”. This essay will inform people of why the Gen Y was made the way they are. In this generation we grew up playing outside not on technology, we called our friends to talk to them not texted, parents knew how to raise their kids and were not scared of them, and we still used old lingo that newer generations will question.
Playing outside was a key factor in every kids life. We didn’t spend our time on social media or playing video games all the time (just some of the time, but they were classics). Gen Y was made the way they are by this factor because social interaction and using energy is an important key in staying healthy and having an open mind to new things. If this generation would have been the social driven one there is now so many things would be different. Even in our busy schedules and hectic lives we still find time to be active and keep up the lifestyle we need is why so many of us are successful in life.
We called our friends to talk to them not texted them. This has a big correlation to this generation because we did not grow up on cell phones but grew accustomed as needed in our later years of life. It is thought of through my opinion that if we would have grown up on cellphones like kids now, we would be completely different people. We would not be able to hold normal conversations or even stop long enough to focus on a job. We would be so drawn it the technology and social Medias rather than doing our jobs or hanging out with friends and holding conversations that mean something. It is needless to say not growing up attached to a cellphone has done something good for Gen Y and previous generations.
