Geography: Town Creation

The town I have created is called Boom Town. I chose the name because of the economic success that the forestry and fishery sectors brought to the town and the surrounding community.
Unfortunately, the decline of the fisheries as well as the forestry sector has brought a decline in the local economy forcing the community to figure out how to bring back money and to re-develop the local economy.
The decline in both industries is drastically affecting the community and areas around Boom Town. Local businesses have had to close down because of the lack of money that is coming into town, due to the loss of big businesses that were previously attracted to the little town. These big businesses brought in lots of money to the local economy and helped develop a local culture and retail sector that is now facing extinction. Local housing is also feeling the burn as housing vacancies are way up and will continue to rise as the amount of jobs become fewer and far between. The most crucial factor that comes with the drastically declining industries is the exporting of former citizens of Boom Town. Many residents have been forced to leave the town in order to find jobs in other towns on the Island and on the Mainland. This ‘exporting’ of people is creating a real issue with the remaining town members, as less and less money is coming into the town, making the region ghost like.
As the mayor and resident of Boom Town, I have to find solutions in order to attract people to the region and once again build the local economy and make the area a viable and attractive place for people all over the world to come and visit and potentially stay. I first off would like to remove the cannery factory, and use that land to build a resort. Not just a simple resort with any purpose, but a resort that will attract an abundance of people who love fishing.
