Global warming is caused by three major affects air pollution, melting of glaciers, and the greenhouse effect. Some people argue if global warming is in fact a real situation, what the causes may be, and how to prevent it from becoming a major problem. Most of these effects are caused by a majority of human activities, such as the burning of fossil fuels, air pollution from cars and industrial buildings, and overall not taking care of the planet itself. These causes effect the population because they cause climate changes that can throw off the ecosystem. They may also cause many other problems such as water levels rising, climate changes, violent storms, and other climate related problems for the environment.
“Melting of the glaciers is a natural phenomenon. Large glaciers of ice melt due to warmers temperatures of the Earth so that new ice can accumulate. These mountains help to equalize the temperatures by leveling out the heat. But there is excess melting of the ice due to the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and the greenhouse effect. These gases contribute to the melting of the ice at faster rate which leads to increased sea levels and eventually floods” if the temperature kept on rising then there is chance that glaciers might disappear which lead to flooding of earth and destruction of land resources. “According to NASA, the polar ice cap is now melting at the alarming rate of nine percent per decade.” (qtd. In Car) “Artic ice thickness has decreased 40 percent since the 1960’s” (qtd. In “Global Warming”) This means by the year 2070 all of the glaciers in Glacier National Park will be gone and melted. Most of this is due to the higher rate at which people are driving cars today. There are about 2 billion cars worldwide which would use about 120 million barrels of oil per day according to UC Davis’ Institute of Transportation. (stat. In Cars)
Another reason major reason for global warming is air pollution. The harmful gases that come from the...
