Several healthcare agencies exist in the United States and around the world to assist in the prevention and treatments of the population’s ailments and diseases. Thanks to these organizations, light is being shed on finding cures for these healthcare concerns and prayerfully these diseases will no longer be of concern in the near future. The American Cancer Association works diligently in finding cures and raising awareness of the many forms of cancer. The world knows that cancer can be a deadly and devastating disease, but this organization focuses its efforts on prevention and early detection so that the population can have the best chance of living healthy and fulfilling lives.
The American Cancer Society is a well-known nationwide and community-based voluntary health organization. The mission of this organization is to eradicate cancer as a health concern by prevention, saving lives, and reducing suffering caused by cancer through means of research, education, advocacy and service. The society’s international focus concentrates on capacity building in developing cancer societies and collaborating with other cancer-related organizations around the world in orchestrating and following shared strategic directions. The American Cancer Society focuses on cancer control on local and international levels that they hope have positive impact of the entire realm of prevention, early detection, effective treatment, survival and quality of life while going through the cancer process into remission. The society has a general interest in prevention which includes tobacco control, diet, physical activity, promoting health and wellness within schools and reducing skin cancer occurrences.
