How ICT can bring about development in Nepal
As we are all aware of, the lighteningfast speed of technology is getting its hands on almost every corner of the world. People are aware, active and curious to discover and utilize the modern gadgets that are in stores nowadays. The sector of Information Technology is booming never like before. Every minute around the world there are like hundreds of creations plus so much to acquire and exploit about. So when this opportunity is open to the entire humankind, why does not a developing country like Nepal also make full use of it?Nepal has a great potential to develop with the help of Information Technology. Unfortunately, Nepal has drawbacks like the difficult geographical regions where transport and development works are difficult to carry out. However, if Nepal gave more importance to the technology sector, this country would me making the most out of it.
ICT has made life real easy for all around the globe and so has it done in Nepal as well. But, the usages of high tech items are hardly seen in the rural areas of Nepal; it’s all basically just in the urban areas like Kathmandu where everything from equipment’s for farming to international travel is centralized. Now, focusing mainly on the rural sector, early inventions like the radio and cassettes are have made a big difference in the lives of villagers there. Wonder what will happen if they get themselves a laptop where internet can hand them the entire world in just a click. Back in just last year, a daily newspaper headlines said: First Pajero to reach Humla (one of the districts in Nepal). This itself shows how backward and outdated Nepal is in terms of the daily appliances.
