Illegal Immigration: Financial burdens and National Security
There are many important issues that plague the United States as a whole. With everything from the exceedingly high national debt to poor medical coverage, the U.S. has its work cut out. However, fixing just one of these issues could significantly improve the country’s standings in the big picture. One issue that takes a heavy toll on the U.S. is illegal immigration. With thousands upon thousands of illegal immigrants entering the country each year, the cost of keeping them in the country is rising continually. To improve border security and enforce stricter immigration laws would be expensive, but would ultimately pay off in the long run.
There is nothing good that arises from illegal immigration, and with nearly 11.9 million undocumented immigrants in the United States, something needs to change. Poor border security plays a vital role in the number people in the U.S. illegally. If the United States’ borders are unprotected, then the country as a whole is in danger. Terrorism is a key factor in border security. Weak border control can lead to further terrorist activity in the country. If terrorists can enter our country whenever they please, no one is safe. Another major issue about illegal immigration is the cost of maintaining the people in the country (schools, welfare, etc.) that do not pay taxes. Improving border security is essential because it keeps illegal immigrants out of the country. These illegal immigrants are threats to national security and can cost the country large sums of money to maintain.
The reasons why immigrants come into America are sometimes different, but can be centered around the idea that conditions in Mexico are far worse than even the poorest parts of the United States.
