Kohlbergs Moral Development
Stage1 – This stage has to do with obedience and punishment. When I was small I learned that if I made fun of my mom or dad I would get beat by my dad. So when my dad would say stop it the next time I stopped instead of continuing like the last time. I realized that if I was obedient when he said that I would not get punished.
Stage 2 – This stage deal with learning that there is a different view other than authority. So my parents always wanted me back in the house around 8. But my aunt came one day and as I was going inside she don’t worry about it just stay out another hour more. I realized that she did things differently than my parents
Stage 3 – This stage has to do with being a good boy or girl. Once I learned all the rules my parents had placed I tried to be the best son they had. I wanted to be better than my brother, so I would do anything that would make me look good. I also tried to be a teachers pet
Stage 4 – This stage has to do with what is morally wrong and upholding the law. So in school if you were late you would get sent to ISS. ISS was the worst, no windows, just a dark room. So I tried to not be late and break that policy that was in place so I would avoid that room
Stage 5 – So in this stage I can say that I have done this when I am late for work. I will not complete a full stop. I will slow down and accelerate
Stage 6 – I have done this as a parent for my kids. Even though there are laws I want them to do things a certain way even though the laws say it needs to be done another way. In theend its for the greater good, but I think the law is stupid sometimes..
I am at stage 6 right now because I am married and have 4 children and I have to do things my way in order for them to understand somethings or get things done
