Leadership is in business calls for individuals with the ability to formulate and employ strategies to gain a competitive edge over rivals. A leader is expected to provide guidance and an overall tempo through which the firm’s objectives are met (Barnard 21). It is therefore, correct to infer that leadership is a social process that involves the deliberate manipulation of people’s thoughts, attitudes and behaviors together with resources to achieve the firm’s goals. Leadership calls for the harnessing of people’s efforts in a collective fashion.
The success of most business ventures lies squarely on the ability of the leaders to implemented relevant leadership techniques thus to cater for the dynamic changes in the environment that shape the unique needs of any business (Bennis 40). Leadership is pegged on the ability of a business leader to correctly and promptly identify problems, values and strengths of their team and come up with useful decisions. Leadership cannot be pegged to the character of an individual but rather the ability of a leader to boost the workforce in a substantial way. The observation is that a leader should not be confused with a manager.

One of the tasks that prove engaging in human resource management is building the capacity of their workforce as far as analytical skills are involved. However, this is not a problem for leaders since leaders have followers while managers have employees who are their subordinates.
