Life science

In this essay I am going to talk about some of the thing that I found to be interesting during my reading of the first four chapters in our text book. I am going to go over some of the make-up of biology, then talk about chemical basis, go over how molecules that are in our everyday lives and finish with going over cell structure. After going over all of these things, we all should have a better understanding of the first four chapters of our text book.
In the first chapter it starts by breaking down the basis of biology to help you understand what we will be reading though out the text book. In the chapter I really liked that it took you step by step on the parts in organization of life by starting with the atom and finishing with life in its biosphere. In the chapter it also gives you how living things are the same and what makes them different. This is done by showing you that all living thing have DNA but we are all different because of our DNA.
In the second chapter it talks about life’s chemical basis and how it can affect our lives without us even knowing that it is going on. Within the start of the chapter it shows you how chemical can affect your body in the figure 2.4 of the PET scans of a smoker and a non-smoker (Starr, 2011, p25). Then the chapter talks about how atoms interact with each other by using ionic bonds to help them make molecule. The last part of the chapter talks about how acids and bases help in the making of the life’s chemical basis.
In chapter three it talks about the molecules of life and how they are needed in everything we do in our day to day lives. We start off by talking about the different types of molecules that help make up organic compounds. The chapter then goes on to explain some of the different type like carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins. Then the chapter talks about the importance of protein structure are needed in our lives but if the protein misfolds and becomes a prion it could have a negative...
