Life’s impact on Motivation
What is motivation? Motivation is defined as “a force or influence that causes someone to do something”. In life we all have lots of motivations and these include money, fame knowledge etc. There are two types of motivation which are extrinsic and intrinsic. Extrinsic motivations are driven from external rewards like money and intrinsic motivation is driven from things like the desire to work. Throughout my life I have been driven by both and I will tell you about some small motivations but also a big circumstance that has motivated me.
I was born in Baltimore Maryland on July 7th, 1994. My family and I lived outside of Baltimore in a small town. We would move to Maine when I was five years old. We lived in a few places before we moved to our beautiful white house in Hollis, Maine. Everything seemed to be perfect when I was that age.
When I was seven years old I started playing football. This was always my favorite sport and it helped me get out my aggression a midst some fighting in my family and served as a venue to meet new people so I could fit in. I have always struggled to fit in with my peers and this was my outlet throughout my academic career. This sport got me through a lot of things in life.
I then went on to attend middle school. This is where I grew apart from my old friends. I felt abandoned and lost but eventually found a good friend name Andrew who is still there for me today. I still tried so hard to fit in and was the class clown but this brought negative ramifications for my actions. Throughout middle school I was always in and out of trouble. I constantly found it hard to be satisfied with the situation I was in.
When I went onto high school I was more motivated to fit in with my peers than to excel academically. This led me to search for new friends and I found them, but they were not the friends I needed.
