Managers Role within the Functions of Business
My paper will address how a manager can benefit from the basic functions that
make up the management process of business. Specifically, how a Human Resource
(HR) manager can use these functions to increase productivity and resolve conflicts. The
functional areas of business are described as planning, organizing, leading, and
controlling.
Planning
A
good
business
leader
must
know
how
to
listen
and
analyze
employee
issues
at
hand
and
immediately
implement
a
plan
to
resolve
the
conflict.
HR
planning
is
assessing
skill,
knowledge,
labor
time
requirements
of
the
organization
and
overseeing
the
recruitment
and
hiring
of
employees.
It
is
the
HR’s
responsibility
to
anticipate
change
and
having
the
right
people
in
place
(Cascio,
2005).
Having
such
position
will
require
HR
managers
to
be
transparent
and
involve
all
members
of
the
company
to
devise
a
plan
for
the
success
of
the
business.
In
recent
years,
HR
managers
have
created
a
plan
that
includes
career
development
(helping
individuals
align
their
career
planning),
organizational
development
(helping
groups
initiate
and
manage
change),
and
training
and
development
(designing
/
developing,
and
delivering
training
to
ensure
people
are
equipped
to
do
their
jobs)
