My most precious moment
Maunaf Al Ashi
Precious moments are one of the things that a person treasures and look back upon with a smile. They are the thoughts we value and hold dearly because they are just that precious. It’s important to capture every moment that passes us by so we will have a record of every event and occurrence that happened in our life.
On September 20th 2008, my eldest brother’s wife went into labor around 11:00pm. My parents urge me to follow them to the hospital as it was a time when my brother really needed us. It was his first experience in becoming a father soon.
When we reached at the hospital, my brother was waiting in the adjacent room. He looks really nervous walking back and forth with his head down. My parents comforted him but I never thought much about it and fell asleep. It didn’t really mean anything to me as I thought he is just going to be a father soon and he will start living his own life and I will just have a niece or nephew for me. You see, me and my brother were never that close to begin with. We had different opinion in life and lots of disagreements.
While we were waiting, the nurse asked my brother to follow her in as his wife wanted him to be by her side when she delivered. Before he went in with the nurse, he came up to me and gave me a tight hug and whispered, “Thank you for coming, it meant the world to me that you came, you will be a great uncle to them.” That word just made me feel the warmest sensation in the world. It was as if everything at that moment was right.
After a few hours, my brother was out from the room; in his hand lay a new born baby and word could not expressed his feelings. “It’s a boy!” yelled my brother. We were so excited and we burst out crying tears of joy. I stayed on with my brother that day and we just stared at my nephew until we both fell asleep. I could feel like as if we are a family again, the joy we shared the moment we see the new born baby.
When we left...
