Definition of Educational Technology
“Educational technology has a multi-faceted nature comprising a cyclical process, an arsenal
of tools (both physical and conceptual), and a multiple-node relationship between learners and
facilitators of instruction, as well as between learners themselves.” (Reiser, 1997, p.63) Kaplan
(2009) explains that finding a solution to a problem is referred to as critical thinking; however,
mastering a way to change the path of any organization takes collaboration and leadership.
Creating the acceptance of change is necessary and requires excellent communication skills. The
communication between the teacher or trainer and the learner must be constructive and possess
the ability to create curiosity and excitement.
Teachers and trainers acknowledge what the learners needs to know and then they must
choose the correct technology to ensure maximum success by improving performance. Spector
(2012) suggest that education and training differ but with educational technology training is a
part of education. “Educational technology is the study and ethical practice of facilitating
learning and improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technological
processes and resources” Januszewski & Molenda (2008)
