Hello my name is Shaneka Smith. I live in Columbus Ohio and have three children. Their names are Nathan 7, Chamyisha 5 and Amayah 13 months. I have a wonderful fiancé of 2 years Christopher. My family enjoys shopping, eating out and spending time together. I currently work at a retirement home, although that is not my lifelong dream. I love to give back and help others in need. The job I have is complicated because I get attached to my residents easy and when they get sick or die, I do not take that very well. I am interested in A degree in human service because I like to problem solve and help others in conflict. I would like to become a child and family social worker with my egree. I chose to go to school online because of my younger children and schedules are crazy right now. The reason I choose to go back to school is because I wanted to set an example for my children, I did not want to tell them to do something I did not experience firsthand. I also would like to further my education to get a better job; I love my job but do not want to wipe butts for the rest of my life. I am a very fun, loving outgoing person that is easy to get along with anyone.
I decided to enroll in Kaplan's Human Services Degree Program because I would like to join the work forge ina few years doing what I love. I would like to become a social worker for people in life enduring situations. Some of the common interests I think I share with others in this course are being in a position to advocate for others. When you are dealing with human service you are dealing close with peoples lives and outcomes.I think that people that like to give back are drawed to working in the field of human services.I expect to learn many things while in this class like how to put people in positions to better themselves and there lives. I think the career of human service canbe rewarding and I cant wait to get into it.
