Nelson Cruz is a major league baseball outfielder for the Texas Rangers. Nelson Ramon Cruz Martinez was born July 1, 1980 in Monte Cristi, Dominican Republic. My name is Natalie Valenzuela my favorite baseball team are the Texas Rangers and my favorite player is Nelson Cruz #17. Nelson's Major League Baseball Debut was on September 17, 2005 for the Milwaukee Brewers.

Nelson Ramon Cruz Martinez was born on July 1,1980 in Monte Cristi, Dominican Republic to Mr. & Mrs. Nelson Cruz Sr. Nelson has two sisters, Olga and Nelsy. As a young child Nelson's passion was basketball his idol was Michael Jordan his other passion was family. Nelson started working at the age of 10 on big trucks. Nelson worked until he was 16 as a mechanic working in his uncle's shop.
Cruz was initially signed as a free agent by the New York Mets, after 3 years in the Dominican Summer League they traded him to Oakland on August 30, 2000. The Brewers acquired him from Oakland along with pitcher Justin Lehr on December 16, 2004. Cruz spent 2005 & 2006 seasons with the Brewers. On July 28, 2006 Nelson Cruz was acquired by the Texas Rangers and on September 4 Cruz hit his First Grand Slam of his career. While playing against the Athletics, Nelson hit an inside-the-park home run which broke his bat on impact. Later Cruz's contract was purchased from Triple-A Oklahoma by the Rangers on August 25, 2008, after batting .342 with 37 home runs and 99 RBIs; for his efforts, he won the 2008 PCL MVP award. In 2010 he and teammate Ian Kinsler each hit three home runs in the 2010 AL division series against the Tampa Bay Rays, marking only the second time in Major League history that two teammates each hit three homers in a postseason series of five games or fewer (joining Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, who did it in the 1928 World Series).
