New Life

Essay # 1

My name is Clayon of Long Island, New York. I have 3 brothers and I am the second oldest of the bunch. I’m a 19 year old freshman that is attending John Jay College in hopes of earning a degree in criminal justice. I heard this was the center of the largest criminal justice program in the country which explains why I picked this college. I want to one day become a police officer or maybe even a private investigator.
In high school I experienced some of the best times in my life. In 11th grade I was a member of the varsity football team that won a Long Island championship. My 12th grade year I led my team to the Long Island championship again and was also given the honor of being a part of the All-State football team. Watching me play gave my younger brothers the inspiration to play football also and now I hope that they continue to follow my precedent of impressive performances. I was also voted best dressed for my senior prom. I received a “blue” award at the end of my senior year in recognition of my performance all 4 years of school. It felt good to show people that athletes can also excel in the classroom. The biggest disappointment I experienced in high school had to be my senior trip. I waited all year for my class trip to six flags and on that day there was nothing but constant downpours. We were still allowed to go on the rides but it just wasn’t the same. The rain would stab our face on the roller coasters like the shots we all dread getting at the doctor. But as high school goes my biggest accomplishment has to be
the fact that I graduated. Though it may seem natural to some, many people go every year without graduating high school.
My biggest goal for me now is to do well and eventually graduate from college. No words will be able to describe the look of satisfaction on my parents face as I walk across that stage to receive my diploma. My older brother never graduated from college so I will be the first of my brothers to graduate....
