At the beginning of the semester I took this Nutrition class because the subject interested me and I figured it would give me extra motivation to help accomplish my set goal of staying active and having healthy eating habits. I wanted to maintain a healthy body weight and be able to balance calories from foods and beverages to keep my intake in a healthy range by expanding my foods groups along with eating more fruits and vegetables. My goals have not yet been exactly met but I like to think that it is never too late to make a change.
In one of my writing assignments I stated that I wanted to start off my healthy habits by consuming more fruits and vegetables and drink more water than I normally do which is considered an insufficient amount of hydration. I am not proud to say that I haven't exactly met those expectations although I am still planning on doing so. After I got done with high school it wasn't playing football or on any other sports team so my exercising drastically decreased and that is what I think was my primary cause for lack of motivation.
Although I have not completely changed for the better after taking this class it has taught me a lot of useful information and I see things a lot different now. Instead of just pigging out or eating a bunch of junk food, I eat in moderation and have became more aware of nutritional value. I used to eat things without reading ingredients or even glimpsing at the nutrition facts but now it is the first thing I do whenever I pick up a snack. I've recently made some progress on exercise and have been attempting to work out more often then I used to at the beginning of the semester so I'm glad that I am working on accomplishing one of my goals that I set a while back. The second biggest accomplishment I made is not eating out at fast food restaurants as much as I did throughout the fall semester.
