Interview conducted by Ms Renitha RAMOO with Mr. Gordon SLATER, Territory Manager with NCR Australia Pty Ltd. Gordon is normally based in Sydney NSW Australia, although this interview was conducted by telephone when he was in Mumbai India on a short term assignment.
1) How do you describe the job specification and responsibilities at the current position held in this organization?
The Territory Manager provides management and coaching support to employees in a designated territory within a region in order to meet customer Service Level Agreements (SLA). He / she effectively manages all territory activities to ensure delivery of on site support services by promoting and improving customer and employee satisfaction. The Territory Manager is responsible for developing employees, promoting teamwork, and fostering open and effective communications. He / she actively pursues any revenue opportunities while effectively controlling expenses and assigned assets. He / she maintains the existing contractual maintenance base while promoting and pursuing additional contract maintenance, ancillary sales and other revenue – producing opportunities. The Territory Manager must work effectively with other organizations and individuals.
2) How many employees do you manage and how big is your territory?
I directly manage 20 Customer Engineers (CE) all based in the Sydney metropolitan area. T he employees support a product base equipments for airport, financial, and industrial customers, I.e. Desktop services for the airline industry-Qantas Airways, for financial organizations- Bank of Queensland(BOQ), support network communication equipments across public sector organizations – New South Wales Police and many private sector organizations. There are also service provided for warranty based customers like for a number of global pc managers such as Dell and HP.
