Outline principles that define the sociocultural level of analysis (SCLOA). The SCLOA mainly states that humans are social animals and we want to be part of the group. The person would change him or herself or go along the group to fit into it. Conformity is when you do want to seem different from the group and agree with them. This does not mean that you change your thoughts, it just means that you still have your opinion but do not want to expose it because you want to fit into that group .Asch’s group study suggest that people change their the way they act when they want to fit into a group. Asch conducted a line test, The goal of the experiment was to say which one of the lines match the standard line. In a group of 7, there was only 1 actual participant and the rest were all confederates. The Confederates answered the first two trails correctly. Later, all of them gave the same wrong answer and 75% of the time the actual participant conformed to the confederates. This means that the participant said the same wrong answer as the confederates. This experiment is a good way to show how and why people conform, The reason for the participant might have conformed was because he din’t want to seem weird or feel like he said the wrong answer. Social and Cultural Learning is done from the environment. There may be many people who feel that they could wear shoes inside their house, for example many Americans do not really care about what footwear they are wearing in the house. But people in countries like India, China feel that it is unhygienic and a different pair of footwear just in there house. Bandura’s Bashing Bobo is a study based on SCLOA which shows that people can learn how to behave by watching others. In his study, a few groups of children were asked to watch a video on how adults were aggressive to a Bobo doll.
