Human Resource Management Overview
For most organizations big or small, it is almost unthinkable to imagine they would not a have HR (human resource) manager. An HR manager plays a vital part of success of an organization. Simply put an HR manager’s function in the organization is to focus their attention on recruiting, or hiring qualified employees, management, and provides direction or guidance for the people that work in the organization. In addition to hiring skilled employees and managers, HR is also involved in safety, benefits, communication, wellness, training, and administration it is safe to say that they help the development of an organization. In most cases, HR directors exist as part of management. In some instances, some organizations choose to outsource their HR management.
Functions of HRM Recruitment
As mentioned earlier HR directors focus on recruitment of qualified employees and management. For organizations that have an in house HR directors it is the job of the HR to post or advertise any available positions within the company. It is also their responsibility to screen the applicants, perform the preliminary interview, and work hand in hand with managers responsible for making the final decision of hiring. In some organizations, HR is also involved in coordinating the drug testing for new recruits.
Reinforcing the employer-employee connection is the moral function of a human resources manager. Human resource managers plan personnel policy and decide the practical procedures required to achieve organizational objectives. Their position necessitates proficiency as an HR generalist, which requires them to be intimate with every human resource discipline.
