Organizations are moving toward an environment where creativity and innovation are the norm. Creativity is taking ideas beyond the normal boundaries and innovation is using the skills and resources to create goods and services. The process of managing creativity and innovation can improve the organizational effectiveness because “all innovation begins with creative ideas.” (Jones, 2004, pp 409)
The company will have to implement a program designed to increase employees’ creative thinking skills. Over time management systems should be changed and adapted to the company’s changing needs. The system the company select should “flow directly from the choice of innovation strategy and balance, providing an active creation of innovations – through ideation, selection, development of ideas and efficient execution and commercialization.” (Davila, Epstein, Shelton, 2006, pg 142)
“Creativity and innovation deeply affects the cultural characteristics and has become the most highly prized commodity.” (De Miranda, Aranha, & Zardo, 2009, pg 525) The business world has recognized that companies must provide support for educational training in creativity and innovation. “Organizations are coming to realize that the ultimate source of competitive advantage and organizational effectiveness lies in fully utilizing the skills of their members, for example, empowering employees to make important and significant decisions.” (Jones, 2004, pg 305)
