Riordan manufacturing is a leading plastics manufacturing firm. They have experienced a great amount of growth. This has demanded the need to change locations for their manufacturing facility in China and the need to assess the need for upgrading their business systems. This service request covers the Accounting and Finance department, Human Resource department, Sales and Marketing, and IT systems. This request examines the current systems in place and then proposes changes to be made for each department.
Accounting and Finance – Current systems
Riordan needs an accounting system that is integrated throughout the plants. The data should feed from one plant to the corporate office. By integrating, all of the data into one central location will cut out the transaction time of the corporate office having to re-enter the data or data files that have to be re-coded to the proper account codes. By integrating, a system will also save labor time from the external auditors.
The information technology group has $150,000 to work up a proposal that should include document current environment, forecast of business technology needs for the next 5 years, and recommendations of systems integrations including acquisitions and consolidations.
The current technology of Riordan has a license at their corporate office for a windows base ERP manufacturing, distribution and financial management software application, specifically designed for plastic processors and process and assembly manufactures. This license does not include application source code. The Michigan plant operates on a vendor developed software application that no longer has support because the vendor is out of business. The Georgia office has another type of vendor developed software application and the attendant source code for there F&A manufacturing process application.
