Red Rocks website needs a considerable amount of improvements to become user friendly for not only current students, but new students as well. The Red Rocks community colleges main page on their website is poorly put organized due to the fact that it is not user friendly at all. The website is not user friendly because of reasons such as poor navigation, small font size, and scattered information.
Navigation from the home page, on the Red Rocks community college website, is poor for a couple of different reasons. First of all, there is no search engine on the main page. There is a search for quick links in the top right hand corner of the screen, but no search option for specific categories that students may be searching for. Another reason that navigation is poor is because it is difficult to navigate from the home page into another link. The navigation is poorly defined, for example, instead of having all subjects bunched together like the page displays presently; have the information divided up into categories. The information could be listed under categories such as: news, contact us, academics, etc. This will make it substantially easier when students are navigating from page to page.
It is very hard to find what you are looking for on the home page. The font used for all of the important links and for most of the page is very small and very hard to read because of the choice of color used. The home page looks as if someone took all the information and crammed it into the home page; because of this it very time consuming and frustrating when trying to find any information. The web designers for the Red Rocks website may have been trying to make sure they covered everything in the home page and that’s understandable. The organization and the layout were not taken into consideration.
