The confidence of one’s abilities and worth is called self-esteem. It can have a big impact on how students can feel about themselves and the people around them. It also affects how they socialize with other. Self esteem isn’t about how other people thinks who the students are and how they look like but it’s about finding out where they’re good and not so good at. What important about self-esteem is that seeing the students how they see themselves in a positive way. There are many things that cause self esteem. Some examples are the relationship between relatives, popularity, and the student’s performance in school. But the main case of low self esteem about one’s physical appearance. Studies shows that among high school students, 44 percent of girls and 15 percent of guys are attempting to lose weight. “Although boys and girls report similar levels of self-esteem during childhood, a gender gap emerges by adolescence, in that adolescent boys have higher self-esteem than adolescent girls” (Robins et al., 2002).
There are 2 types of self-esteem: the positive self-esteem and the negative self-esteem.
The positive factors that affects students self esteem depends on how the people around them reacts on how they are. An example of a positive self esteem is the reaction of their classmates with them. If their classmates don't over react with the way they answer the test or the way they recite, the self esteem of a student doesn't become low. If they knew that their classmate supports and encourage them to be better at something, their self esteem boosts up.






How an individual looks has a big impact on one’s self-esteem. Students that are obese are more prone to having low self-esteem.
