In nowadays society, there exists a universal issue, which is, in job hunting, men carry more advantages than women, that is to say, there is sex discrimination in job hunting. There are many reasons behind this phenomenon.
In the past, women were inferior to men in no matter social life or home life. Men were the domination of the nation and home, women were always in the position of subordination. People had the deep-rooted opinion that women were weaker and less capable than men both physically and mentally. Therefore, in the competition of a job, women have lost at the starting line for people’s deep-rooted discrimination towards women’s ability.
There is bound to be another reason. Women undertake the task of marriage and bear children. Women of the twenties are the golden time for these two things. However, this must be influence their work for at least two or three years, in which period, women not only cannot bring benefits to company, but also become a burden of company. In the consideration of this, most companies do not want an unmarried young lady to join them.
The society we live in today is the one full of money, power, and desire. There is little genuine emotion between person and person. Nearly all the relationships are based on selfish benefits. In this climate, companies are inclined to put beneficial result and effectiveness in the most crucial position. Hence, the staff are required to possess the character of cold-blood and rationality. In this degree, men seem to more likely having this kind of characters than women, which helps men a lot in job hunting.
As has been mentioned above, sex discrimination in job hunting is evitable. However, this phenomenon violates the equality of rights of every citizen, and it harms the harmony of our society. Consequently, our government must make some relevant regulations to stop this phenomenon and to make a equal environment for men and women to compete.
