The flag is a symbol of our independence and our colonization against European tyrants. People should not hate the symbol, which stands for everything, that is great about our country and they should respect it. If someone hates what is going on, hate the politicians that are doing it, but not their nation’s symbols. Burning a flag would not solve anything.
Anti flag, burning law has been rejected because it is unconstitutional. If there were an amendment, it would not be unconstitutional. I would not agree with a law for this reason, but I would support the amendment. It is reasonable to mandate that if you are going to live in this country as a law-abiding citizen you should at least show a minor level of respect for our most important symbol. This symbol flies over our embassies telling the world that freedom exists, and you can come and enjoy that freedom. Our troops around the world fly it with pride. Our veterans coffins are draped in it on their last journey. It is important and deserves our respect.
American flag is a symbol that flies above our country, others in times of war, and in a sense represents all we stand for. Instead of pissing on the flag, either literally or figuratively, just take it down. If everyone that lives around you knows you fly the flag when you are proud, then when you do not they will get the picture. Piss and fire need not enter the equation. Most of the people burning the flags are the ones that do not even belong here. If some hates the country that much, then they should go live somewhere else, and see if they tolerate that type of behavior. They would be arrested or in front of a firing squad in no time.
