What is Sociology?
Sociology is the scientific study of human society. It studies social behaviour and institutions, their origins,development and organization. It is classified as a social science because it uses scientific methods of study to draw conclusions. Sociology uses various methods of empirical investigation and critical analysis to collect data and make generalizations about social order, social disorder and social change.
It studies society as a whole and also as a sum of its parts. Sociology looks at how the individual impacts the society and how the society impacts the individual. The subject of sociology also helps us understand, classify and differentiate the various types of societies and cultures in the world.
At the core of the subject, lies the concept of Sociological Perspective. This is perhaps one of the most basic aspects of the subject as it helps us view the different aspects of a society in a unique manner.
What is Sociological Perspective?
The sociological perspective is a perspective on human behavior and its connection to society as a whole. It invites us to look for the connections between the behavior of individual people and the structures of the society in which they live. Sociological perspective allows an individual to truly assess a situation by looking past the surface and understand the circumstances and societal causes that make people act the way that they do.
