Where The Heart is.
Alfred is an older gentleman that has been informed that he now needs constant care. His family looks for a long term living center, Beverly manner. When they first arrive to bring Alfred to the long term care facility, he is unhappy, scared, and doesn’t want to be there. When they first arrive he and his family are greeted by a lady at the front desk, and is introduced to a nursing assistant (Debbie). Debbie tries to go above and beyond to make to make Alfred feel at home.
When Alfred first began living in a nursing home, he felt alone and like his like was over and would have no freedom of choices. He is soon after introduced to Chris Gordon, the activities instructor. At first he takes no interest in what she has to say due to the fact that she undermined his hobby for playing with toys. Alfred begins to take part and making new friends, along with painting lovely picture of the train outside the nursing facility. Debbie is warm and compliments him for his hard work.
Alfred also has met some vary unfriendly and unwelcoming staff. Louisa another nursing assistant is very rude, unfriendly and makes Alfred feel very uncomfortable. She allows Alfred to see that she is not interested in his wants and needs as a resident
Alfred was very close to his family and they were expected to visit, but due to an accident that happens with his granddaughter they are unable to come. Alfred was very heartbroken and sad. However the nursing facility puts on a events for the residents to have a social get together, but Alfred wants no part in it. He is very upset and let down. Debbie however goes to help him dress and to show him she cares that he should enjoy his time with his new friend Erney.
When he attends the events he meets a wonderful lady by the name of Rebecca Corey. They share stories of family and grandchildren and before you know it the night comes to an end. Alfred can not wait to share his news with Erney. But when goes to tell him...
