The Brewing Industry in Europe
This is an analysis of the brewing industry. This analysis will show the results of the political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and legal (PESTEL). (Finch, 2012) Most brewing industries are affected by the external environment. This case analysis will reveal how international influence on the brewing industry (European), and how the industry overcomes difficulties they faced. The European brewing industry had to face government restrictions and campaigns against alcohol. It was hard to battle against these things to increase growth of the company.
According to Powell (2003), strategic management is considered as a crucial factor for firms’ development and expansion because it deputizes the science of crafting and making initiatives systematically in both short and extended periods directed at winning firm’s goals. Firm’s mission statement, vision and strategies are inherently tied, and constitute the fundamental concepts that allow a company to obligate such objectives. Along with this, the business strategy has to be immediately fixed and improved to move in conjunction with the needs of the external environment (Finch, 2012).
Even though, the brewing industry has to deal with strict government guidelines and laws they have still found a way to increase sells. Companies have used strategic management to stay above competition, government, and protesters against the brewing industry. Along with the PESTLE the SWOT analysis is used to find “the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of being in the brewing industry” (Finch, 2010).
