The Hard Year

The Hard Year

Reflective Essay
This year is first period has been a hard year for everyone. At the beginning of the year I struggled a little because I didn’t do my work. Then I got yelled at by my mom and dad and I got sick of it so I started to do all my work. When I would get home my mom would check basmati and see all of my missing assignments and she would yell at me and tell me that I needed to do all my work but I just ignored her. In the middle of the year when we turned in our Whirligig essay some of the things you taught us helped a lot like the intro triangle when you start with a broad statement and gradually go on to the essay. Before we learned that I was stuck and didn’t know when to do until you taught us that. The conclusion triangle helped a lot too because I didn’t know how to do it until you taught that. When explaining the thesis statement you made it very easy to write because you made it very detailed. When you gave us the paragraph structure to use it made it easier to write an essay on something. When you would teach us the active reading skills made it a lot easier to understand what we read. Asking questions made it easier too because we could ask you and you would answer it. If some people had the same question you would answer their question also. In the response notes you made us plot the main ideas. And then we would get a good understanding on what the book was saying. Like in Romeo and Juliet the book was very complex and hard to understand. The way you taught vocabulary made it easier to understand and made us get good scores on the test. The hand signals were very helpful too because it was easier to remember the motion instead of the actual definition. I can still remember a motion from the very first list. When you taught speech lessons it was a good idea because it helped us in front of a crowd. And the last lesson when we had to remember ten lines of whatever we wanted made it fun also.
