The University of Ballarat International Campus Development
The University of Ballarat (UB) is a dual-sector university based in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. The university formation was done by the passage of University of Ballarat Act made by Victorian Parliament in 1993. It subsequently merged with the Ballarat School of Mines and Industries (1870) and the Horsham based Wimmera Institute of TAFE in 1998 to create a larger University. UB is Australia's only regional, multi-sector university with an international focus. The university comes at third place when it comes to oldest universities for higher learning in Australia, which offer secondary schooling, TAFE, higher education, and research opportunities. The university has four campuses in Victoria which includes; Ballarat (Main Campus), Horsham, Stawell and Ararat. The university has partnerships with other institutes in metropolitan areas all over Australia and across the world. UB has achieved five star rating for its teaching quality in 2005 (Kathryn Murphy, 2013). Currently it has been rated 29th in the Australia for its research quality, and has an international reputation (ERA Rankings, 2012). The University of Ballarat is a member of the Regional University Network (RUN) which was established in October-2011. There are five other universities which are members of RUN (UB Annual Report, 2013). RUN contributes $2.1 billion in gross domestic product, $1.2 billion in household income; and more than 14,000 Full-time equivalent jobs to the Australian economy. (Economic impact study, 2011, p-3). According to the report published by RUN in year 2011, particularly UB has shown an increase of 2.0% in the proportion of the population with a university degree between years 2006 to 2011(Economic impact study, 2011, p-5).
