This I Believe Essay
I believe in the power of music. Life without music is like life without color. Music is precious to me and I can’t live without it. I listen to music every day because of how much I appreciate and love it. The reason why I love music so much is because music always tends to suck me in to what is being sung. What I mean by this is that when I listen to a song I relate the song to my past, present, or future.
I listen to all sorts of genres of music from alternative, punk, rap, rock, country, techno, new school, or old school all of which I love to listen and relate to as well. Whenever I connect music to my past or emotional feelings, I wonder how many people go through the same feelings as I.
I remember when I was younger and didn’t really relate or like music the way I do now. Whenever I heard a song, I never gave it much thought that it actually had meaning behind the lyrics that the artist was trying to get across. I just nodded my head to the beat of the music instead of relating to the music. Music can be powerful to sum but can be blind by many. I say this because some of us don’t take the time to actually hear what the artist is trying to say. It took me till around freshman year of high school to start seeing and hearing the power in music. I believe the reason it took so long for me to notice the power in music was because I was too young to understand and relate to the music.
If a photo is said to be worth a thousand words, than music to me is worth a million. Whenever I listen to a song, I picture the song relating to myself. The cool thing about music is that everyone pictures and takes the meaning of the same song differently. Music can provide you so much like brighten your day, make you study, wake you up, motivate you, and plenty of other things. Music is a powerful tool in life and that’s why I believe in the power of music.
