“The Middle” can be described as sitcom aired on ABC, Wednesday nights at 8:00. The show is based upon a dysfunctional family known as the Heck family. The father Mike Heck (Neil Flynn) is like the typical American father who works and loves his family. The mother Frankie Heck (Patricia Heaton) is a supermom who works hard to accomplish everything for her family. The older brother Axl Heck (Charlie McDermott) is like every other teenage boy who hides all feeling and eats through all the food. Sue Heck (Eden Sher) is the sister who gets overly dramatic and excited over little things. . Last but not least is the younger brother Brick Heck (Atticus Shafer). Brick is known for having odd behavior by whispering to no one. Episode 6 of season 2 is called Halloween and targets the audience of young adults and mothers. Throughout this episode the family realizes that even though you plan for things to be a certain way they don’t always go as planed.

In the beginning of this episode everyone had a plan for Halloween. Sue was going to a big Halloween dance at school. Frankie planed to bring Mike to a Halloween party even though she knows that Mike is no fan of Halloween. Axl plans to bring some girls with him and his friends to a haunted house. Brick is excited to trick or treat this year without Sue. But none of these plans work out. What really makes this show is the amazing writing. The plots are funny and the jokes that they put in this sitcom really make you laugh because that its what a typical family looks and acts like. This show slightly reminds me of Malcolm in the Middle just because it’s a middle class family trying to hang on and also because Bricks character reminds me a lot like Dewey.

The theme of the show is that sometimes your plans get messed up and you just have to roll with the punches. Sue was planning to get her first kiss at the dance but when she doesn’t get a date to the dance she is forced to go to the churches...
