Econ202 Changhyun, Eun 3/13/2009 Many economists said “this U.S. recession reflects a fundamental restructuring of the U.S. economy.” Because of crucial industries particularly manufacturing, financial services and retail have opted to abandon whole areas of business. Probably, it is going to decrease in number of stores, factories and services operations. It is truly said that 39,500 jobs are disappeared. Still many of retailers are shuttering stores by of higher maintenance costs. Also construction that is one of crucial industry is in recession. About 1 million people are hired in 2007, but according to Department of Labor, that number is done to 946,00now. Like these industry U.S. fundamental restructure is shaking. For years, the government has respond to economy downturns by giving out unemployment-insurance checks for a short period of time, believing that the resumption of economy growth to deliver needed jobs for people. However we need more helpful and practical policy to reinforce U.S. fundamental restructuring. Government is only suggesting solutions for the whole country but not for each individual. High unemployment rate affects the whole nation and so does the government’s policy. Like this economy activity that is affect whole country has a big meaning of macro economy.
