The water resource issue that was selected is water pollution. The issue of water pollution originated from industrial facility’s using pipes to drain pollution from the plant’s into the rivers, from farm lands using fertilizer that is carried away by rain into the streams and rivers, and by some air pollutants such as; mercury, sulfur dioxide, nitric oxides and ammonia that are in the air carried by rain into the bodies of water. Other causes of water pollution are from mining oil offshore, cruise ships or boats, humans throwing trash in the water or on the ground, poorly designed landfills, deicing of the roads, hazardous waste sites or illegal dumping of hazardous waste into the water, pet feces and wild animal droppings.
A management and sustainment plan that may alleviate the problem of water pollution is to create more protected marine reserves where no habitat destruction or resource extraction would be allowed. To create other ways of using plastic by recycling the plastic for other uses or finding other resources to use instead of plastic, and finding better ways for heating and cooling people’s homes and ways for vehicles to run on, instead of using gas and oil which are of more natural sources like wind and solar power from the sun. Other management and sustainment plans that may solve the problem of water pollution are to have the industry’s find ways to improve the way the industry’s run to reduce the chemicals or pollution that drains into the streams and rivers or to find alternate ways of running. For cruise ships to find better ways of dispensing waste or alternate uses of the waste instead of dumping the waste in the water.
Some of the opposing views of the water pollution issue could be many people becoming unemployed, although other jobs may be created at the same time, and by finding other ways to cut down on the use of oil and gas could create other potential pollutants or the depletion of other natural resources such as trees, fresh...
