Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies (e.g. lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers and groundwater). Water pollution occurs when pollutants are directly or indirectly discharged into water bodies without adequate treatment to remove harmful compounds. In the past, before the industrial revolution, all the water resources were much cleaner and healthier than the present time. People are less concerned toward this water pollution. It is way easier for them to throw all the wastes into the water resources, and this is the main reason for water pollution. In this essay, I’ll be talking about the main reasons and effects of water pollution.
Starting with the causes of the water pollution, I’ll first talk about one of the main causes of water pollution which is sewage and waste water. On a daily basis, people use a lot of fresh water in cooking, laundry, showering, toilet, etc. But do they have any idea where is the water waste going? There are billions of people around the world; therefore treating sewage water is a big deal. In many developed communities, they treat that waste water and then they dump them into the sea, or the water resource near them. But the question that should be asked, is the treated water dumped into the sea similar to the fresh water? Of course it will not be the same, since the treated water would still have chemicals from the process of the treatment of water. In undeveloped countries, the waste water is dumped immediately without even treating them. This is one of the most dangerous things that can transmit diseases through the whole community.
The second main cause of water pollution is the industrial waste. Any industry after any process, they will have wastes left back. Those wastes usually are chemicals wastes. And the question that should be asked is what those industries are doing with those wastes. In an undeveloped country, if the industry is lying near a water resource, they will just dump the waste in the water. Even if...
