Jamie’s friends should have gone to the police or the Australian Embassy when she was kidnapped. Agree or disagree showing how such a decision might have affected the outcome for Jamie and her friends.
Jasper, Liana and Sonya’s attempted rescue of Jamie changed many things. Had they gone to the Australian Embassy or police, events would have taken a different path and future would have changed dramatically.
If Jasper, Liana and Sonya decided to go to the police, Jamie might not have ever been found. Jasper and Liana wanted to go to the police but Sonya resisted, saying “you know how the police are here. They would take too long. They would ask for a bribe. We would never find her.” (p57) She seemed like she had something to hide, but she was probably right. If they left it to the police they could have lost Jamie forever. If Jamie’s holiday had gone according to plan, her experience in Pakistan would have been different and she wouldn’t have realised who she realized where she belonged.
Liana’s story would have been completely different if they had gone to the Australian Embassy. Because Jasper and Sonya wanted to rescue Jamie themselves Liana got killed. She wouldn’t have died if they had gone to the authorities. Liana’s death was the worst thing that happened to the group in regards to their decision not to involve the police or embassy. Her death was what saved the others.
Jasper’s life would have also changed dramatically. Because Jasper went along to help rescue Jamie, he met Sohail. Sohail was the one who finally helped Jasper grieve over the loss of his father. He helped Jasper accept the fact that his father was gone and this helped him stop feeling sorry for himself. Jasper got a reminder of all the things that his father had taught him about God.
