Bowling for Columbine Mini-Research Project*
In the film Bowling for Columbine, Michael Moore discusses several topics related to gun control/violence in the U.S. and abroad. While he makes some interesting points, he is often criticized by detractors for only showing part of the story or even leaving details out.
For this project, I would like you to find an articles that either supports or complicates any of Moore’s ideas in the film. Once you have found the article, I’d like you to do the following:
1. Complete a précis on your article.

2. Do a reflection essay on how the article supports Moore’s claims or hurts his credibility by offering information beyond what your précis has. Your reflection should be no longer two pages, and it will be graded on the quality of thought and completeness you put into your discussion of it and the film.

3. To find your sources, feel free to use Google, but make sure when you do your research that you look under the “News” tab at the top of the page, not the “Web” tab. By doing this, you will improve your chances of getting better quality sources. A tip: for general, internet searches, a .org, .gov or .edu are the most reliable sources to use.
IMPORTANT: You are not looking at reviews of film but articles on the topics themselves. Inclusion of reviews on the film or DVD will result in a lowered/failing grade.
*This counts as one of your visual text analysis activities = 100 points: 50 for the précis and 50 for the reflection.
