There are many people who can shoulder the blame for the atrocities that occurred in 1692 during the infamous Salem with trials. In Arthur Miller’s play, The Crucible, Miller demonstrated that it was Abigail’s flaws-lust and stubbornness-that led her to be responsible for most of the tragedy of the witch-hunt in Salem.
In the play, The Crucible, By Miller Abigail has many flaws. Abigail shows her first flaw for her lust for John Proctor. This flaw shows that Abigail lust for John Proctor is when she said “I have a sense for heat, John and yours has drawn me to my window, and I have seen you looking up, burning in your loneliness. Do you tell me you’re never looked up at my window?” (Miller 23) This shows that Abigail can’t let him go. She is in love with him and craze about him and would do even thing to get him. Another ex that shows Abigail’s flaw of lust is when it says “ I cannot dream but I wake and walk about the house as though I’d find you comin’ through some door. She clutches him desperately.” (Miller 23) This also shows that Abigail haves sexual desire for John Proctor and she wants him bad.
Abigail shows her next flaw stubbornness, when she still wants John Proctor even throw he has a wife and don’t want her. This flaw shows that Abigail is stubbornness when it says “ It’s she put me out, you cannot pretend it were you. I saw your face when she put me out and you loved me than and you do now!” (Miller 22) This demonstrates that Abigail won’t let John proctor go. She is suborned because he doesn’t want her but let she still wants him. This also demonstrates that Abigail is stubborn because John said that he was not in love with her and that he will ever touched her. Her being stubborn because she says yes you will.
The Arthur Miller shows that Abigail’s flaws were to blame for the tragedly of the witch hunt in salem.
