Dykieria Gillette “THE BOBBY PRESNELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP”
“Success is not a place at which one arrives, but rather the spirit with which one undertakes and continues the journey.” - Alex Noble.
My name is Dykieria Gillette and I would like to take you on a journey in my alluring life. I would like to tell you why I believe this great scholarship would help assist my future.
I am a student at Sneads High School, but I am much more than that!
Throughout my life I have attended numerous schools which have brought me numerous experiences. I am also the oldest of six children raised by a stupendous mother. She has raised me to dream big and to work hard for my goals. She is a hardworking, single parent who has always supported me. Because my mother could not fulfill all my needs as a teenager, I began working. This experience has granted me valuable knowledge about the real world. It is hard to live in this condition and that is how I know this scholarship will be great assistance.
I have almost completed my high school career which excites me. I am very proud of being not only a helpful student in school, but also in the community. I have attended charities and fundraisers such as, the March of Dimes and Relay for life. Aside from volunteering, I also play a big part in my church. I’m the youth president and choir director. As youth president and choir director, I schedule events, invite speakers, direct, and lead songs for certain occasions. I have come cross many obstacles, but have gained priceless information from this position. I have achieved many goals. I have been captain of the Varsity Basketball Team, a member of the Sr. Beta Club, and been an active, competitive member in FCCLA. Although I believe these are great accomplishments, the accomplishment I am most proud of is maintaining a weighted 4.0 grade point average
