Healthful eating is a good way to avoid chronic diseases. Chronic diseases are harmful and may lead to death. Some types of chronic diseases can be curable but some may not be. Living a healthful lifestyle is better on the body. Exercising daily or three or four times a week will decrease this risk. Healthful eating also decreases the risk of chronic diseases, because eating fruits and vegetables is healthy.
Heart disease, cancer, and diabetes are examples of chronic diseases. There are seventy percent of deaths in the United States each year. Chronic diseases are preventable but costly. Eating healthy and avoiding tobacco will help prevent these diseases. Becoming physically active will also help prevent these harmful diseases.
Getting yearly checkups will detect these diseases sooner and be more likely curable. Learning about these diseases such as knowing the signs and symptoms is a smart thing to do.
Diabetes is an example of a chronic disease. A diabetic person’s blood sugar could rise without even knowing it. Some symptoms of Type 2 diabetes are feeling thirsty, more hungry than usual, and feeling very tired. Losing weight can reduce the risk of getting diabetes. Diabetics should take care of themselves and check blood sugar levels throughout the day.
Heart disease, also known as cardiac disease, kills a lot of people each year. Males have more of a risk of getting heart disease than most females. Some signs are having shortness of breathe and sharp pains in the chest. People who smoke have an even higher risk of getting heart disease than a non-smoker. Alcohol is also a risk factor for chronic disease. “Beef’s high saturated-fat contributes to heart disease.” (2008 Consumers Union of United States) Choosing lean meats while shopping is the better choice. An “Organic” beef product is also a good choice. The word “organic” means that cows just ate grass and not animal byproducts.
